I am deeply saddened to inform the database community that Prof. Rajeev Motwani passed away Thursday night in a swimming pool accident at his home. He will be remembered by the large number of professional colleagues, faculty colleagues, and students whose education and lives have been enriched tremendously by his.

Motwani là đồng tác giả (một trong hai) bài báo chứng minh định lý PCP, đồng tác giả bài báo PageRank với Brin & Page (xem obituary của Brin vừa viết), và đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc tư vấn khởi tạo Google. Ông cũng là đồng tác giả quyển textbook rất phổ dụng: Randomized Algorithms

    Sang nay, em vao Microsoft Bing thay “Rajeev Motwani” o muc “Popular Now” keywords (goc duoi ben phai) thuc su rat bat ngo. Truoc khi click cu tuong la lai co results hay award gi moi. That dang buon khi chuoi bai PCP cua chung ta dang tiep tuc :(
